Annie Lederman, along with other students, testified in court against the teacher following this incident. The pair became friends with some of her problematic classmates, who were involved in illegal activities including drug-related sales. Annie Lederman, who graduated high school in 1997, aged 17 spent her following year volunteering. She began by training dolphins on the island of Hawaii then following that, she worked with a non-profit organization to help disadvantaged children in Central America.
